The human mind is always growing and expanding. This process is best put to use when we are in school. Kaylee has helped me see that when we are young we absorb all this information, then want to share it with the world. Everyday Kaylee learns something she immediately comes to me and says. "Guess what I learned today?" Then she tells me everything, she has learned so much for being just a kindergartener. She does occasionally complain about homework though, but with commitment she always works on it. She absorbs all this knowledge, and expresses with such excitement that makes me jealous. I still wish that after I learn something new that I would have the same excitement, not a sense of dread. Will she lose her sense of wonder, or will she always be the same little girl that gets excited by learning how to spell the word "the"? After watching her I see that we won't have to worry about the later generations, in fact I am impressed with what I have seen so far. I know that she will make me proud, she is a magnificent person.
Human beings are simply the most interesting to observe. You never know what they will do. My niece is one of the most bizarre human beings in the world; she is smart, crazy, and I never know what mood she will be in. She is five years old the moment in life when she is learning new emotions. This blog will show that she is crazy and smart. She is so unpredictable and for everyone's safety I will be observing her. Wish me luck.

When did learning not become fun?

I think one way of keeping a child positive about learning, is to react excitedly to their excitement and to model a joy of learning. Tell her about the cool things you are learning--MLA citations, blogging...
ReplyDeleteI love the topic of a child learning at a young age. I normally think to myself how can a child learn an entire language by only listening? I can listen to the same Japanese song and not know anything about what they say. Their minds are like sponges; always eager to wring out their knowledge on anyone it seems.
ReplyDeleteI think about that too after seeing kids grow their interest un school is many times lost kind of also like their imagination, I think it would be interesting if you learned about her imaginations you could ask her, when I was younger I had the craziest imaginations that I still remember about.
ReplyDeleteYou bring up a very interesting topic. Most people say our generations are going down hill, but just like you I believe there are exceptions. Your observations on the little girl are very interesting, I can personally relate. My little cousins get super excited when they learn something new. And even my sister is amazed when she learns a new word, she is 3 and repeates new words over and over again.
ReplyDeletewhen I read this blog I felt my heart warm to the thought of a families love. For whatever reason it reminded me of my mothers faith in my ability to be exceed her expectations, not that she expected anything other than trust and love. I don't know why, but I almost appreciate your trust in your nieces capabilities.
ReplyDeleteI like how you say there's hope for later generations, because it's so true. Great blog!
