Our lives are short but are emotions aren't. Kaylee and me have grown up together and we grew to love those around us, but the one we loved the most was my dad. Today we finally got to see him after months, my emotions harden inside my chest but Kaylee, she let her happiness be the guideline. I have never seen her so happy in my entire life, she didn't know why we were there but she didn't care, she got to see him. We were there to see my dad off, he was leaving for a rehab and there was a chance he might not come back. I tried to keep my emotions inside for Kaylee when we told her that her papa will be leaving for a while. For one so young she understood perfectly, more so than I did, and she looked at me with these sad eyes and I cried. She walked over to me and gave me a hug and cried with me, together we cried. Together we watched as he left taking baggage that we call emotions with him.
This is beautiful and powerful and the photo enhances it. I'm sorry you and Kaylee are going through this. She's lucky to have you.
ReplyDeleteI remember the day I spent with Kaylee and you, and how excited she was to see another female in the room. However, I couldn't possibly imagine this adorable little girl being that strong in such a situation. Even I can't handle not being part of my dads life, so I give her an immense amount of props for that. I hope she cheers up soon and you as well.
ReplyDeleteI honestly appreciate the bravery you have to talk about this with the rest of your classmates, thank you. I really enjoy this blog because it proves that you don't have to be a certain age to be defined as strong. You and your niece are both very strong individuals and wish the best of luck towards the both of you.
ReplyDeleteI really look forward to reading your blog as you continue to observe your niece. I am also observing my niece and I think its cool to follow someone who is doing the same thing I am. Your blog really had me feeling emotional. It's short but its perfect.
